Frequently Asked Questions

  • CPR & First Aid courses cannot be conducted purely online as all courses requires participants to demonstrate practical skills such as CPR on an adult, child and infant manikins, perform DRSABCD, show the correct use of a defibrillator, bandaging, managing fractures etc.

    Due to the above requirements, it is highly unlikely that any online course is an accredited course.

    AFAC provides online, self-pace pre-course learning, this allows the duration of the face-to-face training to be completed into a shorter timeframe.

  • No. The performance evidence assessment requires participants to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin on the floor. For HLTAID012 participants, they will also be required to perform an extra 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a child manikin on the floor.

  • No. If you cannot complete all of the performance evidence assessment tasks, we cannot issue a Statement of Attainment.

  • AFAC love babies and children, however our classes are strictly an adult education facility only. Babies and children cannot be brought to class.

    Please call us on 9850 6665 to discuss further. For breastfeeding parents, we can speak to you about the breaks throughout the day where you may be able to feed your child.

  • Each Statement of Attainment is different.

    All First Aid certificates last for 3 years; however, the CPR component needs to be renewed every 12 months.

    CPR certificates last for 12 months.

    22578VIC Anaphylaxis certificate last for 3 years, however the VU23090 EpiPen Update needs to be renewed every 12 months.

    VU23090 EpiPen Annual Update certificate lasts for 12 months.

    22556VIC Asthma certificate lasts for 3 years and has no update.

  • All courses require different amounts of online, self-paced pre-course homework, and it all depends on your prior knowledge.

    For shorter courses, we recommend you allow yourself 60-90 minutes to complete the self-paced online learning.

    For longer courses, we recommend you allow yourself 90+ minutes to complete the self-paced online learning.

  • You are required to bring your enrolment form which should be filled out. The enrolment form is located in your confirmation email.

  • Yes, we do! The terms are this easy:

    • It must be for the same course
    • It has to be in the same suburb
    • The course date has to be within 7 days of AFAC’s location date

  • Yes, AFAC offers courses 7 days a week apart from public holidays.

  • We offer night-time courses for businesses, organisations, or private onsite groups of 10 people or more, however we do not offer public courses at night-time.

  • No. All courses strictly start on time. As these are short courses, you cannot miss out on any course content. We ask all of our participants to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to their course starting.

  • If you cannot attend the date of your course, please call us on 9850 6665 or email [email protected].

    Unlike other companies, we do not charge a reschedule fee if you have provided 24-hours’ notice, Monday to Friday during business hours (8:30am-5pm).

  • Yes, all of our courses are national accredited and are recognised Australia wide!

  • Yes, you obtain CPD points by attending CPR & First Aid training with AFAC.

  • The minimum age to attend a First Aid/CPR course unaccompanied is 14 years. AFAC accepts 10–13-year old’s as long as they are accompanied by an adult. However, all of our courses require physical tasks that must be completed to obtain a statement of attainment, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin on the floor, recovery position and bandaging to name a few of a long list of requirements.

  • Yes, we can come out 7 days a week at any time of your choice. We can provide any course you like and combine several courses on the same day.

  • Yes, a person with a disability can attend AFAC training. AFAC will do everything we can to meet your individual needs, however all of our courses require physical tasks that must be completed to obtain a Statement of Attainment, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin on the floor, recovery position and bandaging to name a few of a long list of requirements.

  • If you have competed CPR within 90 days of your booked course date, we can grant you RPL. You will need to send through a copy of your CPR certificate to [email protected]. 

  • Your Statement of Attainment will be emailed to you upon completing the practical training, as long as you have completed all the online, self-paced pre course assessments.
